Dr. Patton's research centers on the debate between naturalism and theories of science committed to the a priori: in the philosophy of physics (especially relativity) and as part of the history of German epistemology of science (wissenschaftliche Erkenntnistheorie). Her current projects investigate a priori knowledge, naturalism, the axiomatization of mechanics, and the dialogue between empirical psychology, physiology, and neo-Kantianism in the late 19th century.
